AHEAD of the April 11 Governorship election, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Adamu Muazu Thursday, met with all the gubernatorial candidates on the platform of the PDP.
The meeting which took place  at the National Executive Committee, NEC hall of the PDP National Secretariat, also had in attendance the PDP Deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus; National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha; National Woman Leader, Chief Kema Chikwe, other members of the National Working Committee, NWC and State Chairmen of the party.

Vanguard gathered that the meeting which was the first since they emerged as candidates and after the PDP Presidential candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan by the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari, retd at last Saturday’s presidential election.
PDP gubernatorial candidates  present at the meeting were the Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta State; Senator Benedict Ayade, Cross River; Nyesom Wike, Rivers; Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Adamawa; Senator Abdallah Wali, Sokoto; Gambo Lawan, Borno; Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi, Zamfara; and Umar Mohammed Nasko, Niger.
Also present were Senator Teslim Folarin, Oyo; Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom; Senator Gyang Pwajok, Plateau; Terhemba Tarzoor, Benue; Isiaka Gboyega, Ogun, among others.
Soon after the meeting at the Wadata Plaza, the PDP gubernatorial candidates were conveyed in two Coaster buses to have another round of meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential villa.
A source at the Wadata meeting told Vanguard that PDP National  Chairman, Adamu Muazu urged the candidates to go and work harder in their various states and asked them not to be demoralised with what happened last Saturday where President Jonathan lost the election to the APC candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, retd.
Muazu was said to have also told the candidates that the presidential and National Assembly elections should afford them the opportunity to re strategise and win the election.
At the meeting which was held behind closed doors, the PDP National Chairman was said to have told the PDP gubernatorial candidates that with what the party has done in the last sixteen years, they were sure of victory in their respective states.
According to the source, Muazu said,  “As we return to the electorate for the April 11, 2015 governorship and state assembly elections, we go recharged with faith in our heart. We assure all our candidates in the remaining elections that the party will stand with you, campaign with you and work vigourously to ensure your total victory at the polls.
“We call on our party faithful to remain steadfast in our renewed effort to deliver our flag bearers in the remaining elections.”
