Ibikunle Amosun, Ogun state governor, who was re-elected for second a term, attended the event and was presented with his certificate of return.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, presented certificates of return to the three senators and nine members of the Federal House of Representatives.
The All Progressive Congress (APC) won a majority of the seats in the state. The party won two of the three senate seats and also won seven of the nine seats in the House of Representatives. The two representative seats won by the PDP are that of the Ijebu North/Ijebu East/Ogun Waterside which was won by the former state Commissioner for Works, Aremo Segun Adekoya. The second, Remo federal constituency, was won by Oladipupo Adebutu.
According to PM News, Kashamu deliberately shunned the event to avoid being booed by the crowd at the event. Only Aremo Segun Adekoya of the PDP attended the event.
The atmosphere was so friendly that all the officials, irrespective of their political differences were chatting together and enjoying the ceremony.
A source close to the senator-elect, who was at the event, revealed that Kashamu deliberately stayed away from the event.
“We discussed his coming to the programme but he maintained that he is not coming because he does not want to create unnecessary scene at the event.
