Death toll from victims of contaminated ogogoro in Rivers now 66


The number of victims who have died from drinking contaminated local gin popularly referred to as Ogogoro in Rivers state has risen to 66. This is according to the Director of Disease Control of Ministry of Health Rivers state, Dr Roland Obed Whyte. He said the number of deaths cuts across four local government areas of Rivers state namely Ahoada, Gokana, Bonny Island and Obio-Akpor.

The Federal government has since put a ban to the sale and consumption of the Local gin nationwide.
