Pope Francis grants Catholic priests the right to forgive women who have had abortions


Pope Francis has called on catholic priests to pardon women who have abortions and the doctors who perform them, during the upcoming Jubilee year. The Pope's statement overrules the Catholic Church's doctrine which frowns strongly against abortion.

I'm through with you, Uzodimma tells ex-wife...says I'm set to marry again


Imo West Senator, Hope Uzodimma, has stated that he won't reconcile with his former wife, Augusta, because their marriage has been legally dissolved by the Court and the Catholic Church about 17 years ago. He said a Lagos High Court Ikeja presided over by Justice Bayo Manuwa and the Catholic Canon Tribunal of Orlu Diocese Catholic Church in Imo State where the marriage was initially consummated have dissolved the marriage after irreconcilable issues in 1998.

Men of God failed to deliver Jonathan from a spell - Bishop Okonkwo


In an interview with Vanguard to celebrate his 70th birthday, former president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria and the presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Bishop Mike Okonkwo said that men of God in Nigeria failed to cast the spell on ex president Jonathan while he served as president.

TB Joshua reacts to gay law in USA

Various reactions have come in the wake of America formally legalising gay marriage across the entirety of its borders but one of the most unusual has sprung from a popular Nigerian cleric.

White gunman shoots nine people at historic black church in South Carolina in hate crime


A gunman remained at large Thursday morning after nine people were shot and killed in Charleston, South Carolina, during a Bible study session at one of the nation's oldest and most prominent African-American churches, authorities said.

According to the church's website, Emanuel AME Church -- often referred to as 'Mother Emanuel' -- is the oldest AME church in the south and has one of the largest black congregations south of Baltimore, Maryland.

The church played an important role in the state's history, including the slavery era and the Civil Rights movement. 

Buhari congratulates Muslims nationwide as Ramadan fast begins today

In a congratulatory message released on his behalf by the Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity), Garba Shehu, President Buhari implored Muslims to seek maximum benefits from the Ramadan period "by being helpful to all manner of people, learning and following the true message of the religion as taught by the Holy Prophet."

God made me the Speaker,Dogara attributes emergence to God


The speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara had a thanksgiving service at the Living Faith Church Goshen City, Karu, Nasarawa State yesterday June 14th to appreciate God for his emergence as the new Speaker.

Hon Dogara attributed his victory at the assembly election to God and the teachings of the church which he started attending since 1988
"I have been a member of this church since 1988 even before I went to the university. The teaching I received here has defined my life. If it were not for the teachings we receive on this altar, maybe this victory may not have come. We had Goliaths in the run to the election, there were Tobias and Sambalats. We had Baalams, who were asked to curse us, but God was with us" he said
