ICPC must probe Fayemi –Ekiti PDP insists

We are in the era of probe,where the umpire has promised that there will be no sacred cows,whoever is found wanting by the law will go in for it.The corruption searchlight is now fixed on former Ekiti state Governor,Dr fayemi.

As the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) begins the probe  of former governors, Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  has urged the Commission to  include former Governor of the state, Dr Kayode Fayemi, in the list.

I'm through with you, Uzodimma tells ex-wife...says I'm set to marry again


Imo West Senator, Hope Uzodimma, has stated that he won't reconcile with his former wife, Augusta, because their marriage has been legally dissolved by the Court and the Catholic Church about 17 years ago. He said a Lagos High Court Ikeja presided over by Justice Bayo Manuwa and the Catholic Canon Tribunal of Orlu Diocese Catholic Church in Imo State where the marriage was initially consummated have dissolved the marriage after irreconcilable issues in 1998.

Police arrest former employees of MFM for threatening its CSO


The Police have arraigned 2 men for allegedly threatening the Chief Security Officer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries, Olatubosun Odumosu.
The accused, Michael Nwaogu and Simon Akagwu were arraigned before the Yaba Magistrates’ Court on 3 counts.
It was learnt that Nwaogu and Akagwu had worked for Odumosu, who also owned a security firm.

Buhari appoints Sagay as head of advisory committee on war against corruption


President Buhari has appointed a Presidential Advisory Committee against Corruption headed by Professor Itse Sagay, a prominent professor of law and civil rights activist.

The Committee’s brief, according to the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, is to advise the present administration on the prosecution of the war against corruption and the implementation of required reforms in Nigeria’s criminal justice system.

Agbaje loses bid to challenge Ambode's victory at the election tribunal


The PDP governorship candidate in the last Lagos state governorship election, Jimi Agbaje has lost his bid to challenge Governor Akinwunmi Ambode's victory at the April 11th Govenorship election.

The Lagos state election tribunal sitting in Ikeja today July 1st struck out his petition. Justice Muhammad Sirajo who led the three-man tribunal panel, upheld the preliminary objection raised by Chief Wole Olanipekun that the petition was incompetent.

Court acquits Femi Fani-Kayode of money laundering charges

A federal High court sitting in Lagos today discharged and acquitted former Aviation Minister Femi Fani Kayode of money laundering charges leveled against him by the EFCC.

Delivering her judgement, the presiding judge, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia,​ said the charges brought against Fani-Kayode was 'feeble' and EFCC failed to provide 'copious evidence' that linked him to money laundering.

Lagos Court acquits murder suspect for `showing remorse’

An Ijede Magistrates’ Court near Ikorodu, Lagos State on Tuesday discharged a man, Kazeem Ajiga, who allegedly lynched another man for stealing his aluminium roofing sheets. Ajiga was arraigned on Tuesday for taking laws into his hands by executing jungle justice on a suspect, Raheem Omoyele, whom he accused of stealing his property. 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Omoyele was on Monday brought before Olagbegi-Adelabu on a charge of stealing 25 aluminium roofing sheets belonging to Ajiga.

Tinubu’s N150 bn libel suit against AIT adjourned to Sept. 30


An Ikeja High Court in Lagos has adjourned the N150billion libel suit filed by Bola Tinubu against Africa Independent Television, AIT, to September 30th. Bola Tinubu had approached the court after AIT aired a documentary about him titled 'Lion of Bourdillon' during the election campaign period. Bola Tinubu says the documentary was created to tarnish his image.

French woman goes on trial for deaths of 8 of her babies


One day in the summer of 2010, a man was digging in his garden in northern France when he discovered a trash bag containing the remains of an infant. When he summoned the police, they found the body of another newborn. A few days later, they found more bags in the garage - with six additional small corpses.

Wike prays tribunal to deny APC access to election materials


Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has opposed request by the All Progressives Congress,Apc,and it's governorship candidate in the state,Mr Dakuku Peterside,to be allowed to inspect the electoral materials that were used.

Wike, through his lead counsel Mr Emmanuel Ukala SAN,filled a counter motion before the Rivers State Election Tribunal currently sitting in Abuja,stating that allowing the petitioners  access to the sensitive materials could expose the citizens of the state to immense danger,and that it would compromise the secrecy of the ballot.

Court upholds judgment against extradition of Kashamu to U.S.

 Justice Ibrahim Buba of ‎a federal high court in Lagos has upheld the judgment of the court restraining any extradition process against a Nigerian senator, Buruji Kashamu, to the United States.
Mr. Kashamu, who ‎represents Ogun East Senatorial District, is wanted by the United State government for drug related offences.

31 year old man stabs wife to death in Lagos over infidelity


A 31-year-old man named, Michael David, who allegedly stabbed his wife, Onyinyechi Dennis, to death on Friday appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos. The accused, who resides in Ojoku around Olodi-Apapa, is facing a charge of murder. The Prosecutor, Insp. Emmanuel Ajayi, told the court that the offence was committed on April 7, at No. 24, Ojoku St., Olodi Apapa in Lagos.

Jail or freedom? Fani-Kayode to know fate July 1

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday fixed July 1 for judgment in the money laundering trial of a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode.
Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia adjourned the case to July 1 following the absence of the lead prosecuting counsel, Festus Keyamo.
